Young children may all ready be familiar with Miss Spider through David Kirk's books or television show. This video is geared like the books. The child gets to play as the character Miss Spider who is a vegetarian and lives in her magnificent world filled with colorful vegetation.

This game features four games and is presented in 24 levels. As the players master skills, they are able to unlock different features of the games. This will help teach the child basic game play features that they will need in order to play other video games in the future. Some of the features they will learn are how to use the four directional game pad to navigate in side scrolling and vertical falling games. They will also learn to jump over objects, perform super jumps onto moving platforms and control flying characters.

Miss Spider will also teach children some of the unique aspects found on the DS system such as blowing on the microphone to make something happen on the screen and using the stylus to draw and tap objects during game play.

The child has 24 levels in which he/she has to direct Miss Spider down different pathways. Each pathway has its own entrance. Some levels will not open until an earlier easier level has been completed.

The concept of the game is that the child must help Miss Spider and her family gather enough fruits and nuts to survive the winter. They have different tasks to complete in each game. For example in one game the child must control a spider as it floats down from the sky. The child must control the spider as it is falling toward the ground and keep it out of harms way of falling obstacles and at the same time hovering the spider over fruit pieces, adding them to their harvest for the winter.

Parents should offer help in teaching the children how to play the game and to read the instructions that comes with the game.

Miss Spider is considered a gentle game that is slow paced that could be perfect for young children.
